A Treehouse Getaway in the Ecovillage
Tired of waking up and sleeping to the smell of garbage? Want to escape to a new kind of La-La land in the heart of Dmit, Chouf? The Eco-village is certainly a getaway to consider!
Grab your swimming suit and a bottle of ‘Rosé’ and drive down the South highway and take the first BeitEdinne/Deir El Ammar Exit. Drive around 2o minutes until you pass a region called ‘Sir Jbeil’. Continue on the road until you see to your left a ‘ roundabout’ and COOP. Take your left and drive straight until you see a sign ‘ 4 by 4 Jeeps only’. If you have an off road car, keep on following the small Eco-village signs ( Stay on your right) until you reach the end of the road. If not park your car at the sign, and dial this number 03-211463! The eco-village offers pick up services for free!
The Eco-village is a unique experience, one like no other. I would have never thought that something like that might exist in my country, especially in the Shouf area. It all began when a Lebanese man, who currently lives in Germany, decided to invest and turn the land that he owns into a sustainble project.
The concept of the eco-village is to camp or sleep in a tree-house over the Damour river and enjoy that calm in nature while preserving it. It’s the sweet escape with your friends or loved ones. The place offers activities too like Zip-lining, guided tours, and even yoga sessions.
However, when I visited in the middle of the week in August, none of the activities were available due to their dependency on number of guest available. So you might want to check that before you go!
( PS: You could also get your own food or even BBQ to grill there )
The whole experience was perfect, however i do believe that some renovations should be made to keep it in good condition.
