10 Current Facts About Lebanon
I believe many people have been wondering ‘What the hell is going on in Lebanon?’ People have been telling me that they’ve come across a lot of headlines, shared posts, and photos online that depict what’s happening in Leb but can’t seem to really understand what’s going on. To sum it up for you, here’s 10 random facts about the present situation in Lebanon.
1- It’s been a year and half that the country still remains without a President! Because why would a country need a head of the state in the first place?
2 – It’s been 5 months since the garbage has been collected from the streets
3- The garbage that has been collected by some municipalities is being either burned, dumped under bridges, or thrown in rivers and forests.
Above all of this, a storm hit Lebanon a week ago and resulted in the drifting of the trash down the Karantina river and straight into the ocean.
4- There around 4.5-5 million Lebanese and over 2 million syrian refugees, all living in horrific and unhealthy coniditions
5- A revolutionary local campaign called ‘You Stink’ is still ongoing and protesting for one cause : To overthrow the corrupted government composed of political leaders that belong to different religious sects.
The revolution is led by intellects and the educated youth that are demanding their basic human rights: Electricity, water, education, health …

6- A Saudi Prince was caught last week smuggling 2 tons of drugs on a plane in Beirut
8- While the politicians have still not resigned and are still being paid for doing absolutely nothing , volunteers are trying to clean these contaminated rivers and recycle the wastes.
9- Justice has still not been served for these innocent victims who were murdered.
