RedBull Music Academy
Montréal hosted its first edition of Red Bull Music Academy in our city from the 24th of September till the 28th of October, 2016. There were several events planned out with artists and participants from all over the world. Each event was a unique experience and RBMA truly succeeded in exceeding everyone’s expectations. Red bull’s concept is all about creativity and music and it has been gaining a lot of popularity and momentum worldwide. I feel lucky enough to have crossed 3 cool events off my bucket lists!
1- Disco Night in a Church
It was a cold Friday night a week before Halloween. We disco-ed our asses off at Fairmount Theatre which is an actual church, but obviously is not used for masses anymore; rather turned into a venue for events. RBMA did a great job with getting together beautiful souls that partied like it 1975!
2- Party in the pool
Believe it or not, I got to party in a pool where the speakers were UNDERwater. Redbull Music Academy installed 4 big speakers in the Olympic Park’s pool and several DJs were playing their DJ or live sets from the diving board. You could only hear the base from under the water! It’s hard to explain the experience, but i can assure you it’s something you don’t want to miss out next time it happens.
Forget about museums and art galleries, this digital exhibition blew me away. My friends and I headed to the old port to attend the exhibition held by Björk in collaboration with the Phi Centre and RedBull Music Academy. The exhibition constituted of 5 different (7-10 min) virtual reality videos, the last one being an actual immersive and interactive experience. The purpose was to allow people to experience art, music, and technology in a way they haven’t before.
